Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Great Langdale, Ambleside, Cumbria
Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is to be found in a magnificent setting at the head of the Great Langdale Valley in the heart of the Lake District.
For 300 years the old hotel has offered a home to fellwalkers and climbers. Most guests call in at the Hiker's Bar first, where a selection of real ales provides a just reward after a long drive or a hard day of fell and rock.
There are 12 bedrooms - 6 of which have en suite facilities. There is a spacious and comfortable residents' lounge with an open fire, a quiet residents' bar, excellent wine cellar and dining room, together with drying room.
The dining room is a comfortable place to enjoy good home-cooked food, within a friendly atmosphere. The service is friendly and attentive, and staff are always happy to advise and help in any way they can.
A warm welcome is extended to climbing and fell-walking clubs and a discount is offered for young children. Wedding buffets can be catered for.
Breakfast is served in the dining room from 8.30 to 9.30am. Fantastic packed lunches are available on request. Table d'Hote Dinner is served from 7.30pm in the dining room by prior booking, to reception no later than mid-morning on the day required.
