The Old Forge Seafood Restaurant, Thursford, Fakenham, Norfolk

The Old Forge Seafood Restaurant, Thursford, Fakenham, Norfolk

The Old Forge Seafood Restaurant in Thursford is an award-winning restaurant with rooms. They’ve featured twice on the BBC National Television News, appeared in a cutting-edge documentary on Channel 4 and have even had Hollywood superstar John Travolta dine in their seafood restaurant.

The restaurant with rooms was originally a 14th Century former coaching station with a forge that has been beautifully renovated whilst retaining its original character, including York Stone floors and beams. You can even see the original iron hooks which tied the horse up in the restaurant.

There are 4 beautifully furnished en suite bedrooms available, including a large double room with a bathroom. The rooms boast oak beams and include a TV, free Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, biscuits or homemade cake.

The award-winning restaurant uses local seafood to tantalise your taste buds, including shrimp, local crayfish, lobster, crabs and oysters. Much of the menu is purchased daily from the fishermen on the coast at Blakeney and Wells-next-the-Sea. Lots of the spices they use are from their own garden. They also provide succulent meat dishes, such as steak and lamb shank.

The picturesque Georgian town of Holt is a ten-minute drive away. The beautiful sandy beaches of Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea and Cromer are only a fifteen-minute drive away and the famous Pensthorpe Nature Reserve is five minutes away. The much-loved country retreat of the British Royal Family at Sandringham Estate can be reached within twenty minutes.
