Callisham Farm, Meavy, Yelverton, Devon

Tucked away in the scenic Meavy Valley within Dartmoor National Park, Callisham Farm offers a peaceful rural escape full of character and charm. This family-run granite and stone farmhouse sits among tranquil woodlands, close to the gentle sounds of nearby streams, and is the ideal base for nature lovers, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Callisham Farm provides direct access to walking trails without the need to step on a road, making it ideal for guests who want to explore Dartmoor on foot. The surrounding area is also well-suited for fishing, cycling, golfing, and visiting the beautiful coastlines of Devon and Cornwall.

The farmhouse has three south-facing guest rooms, each with views of open fields and Callisham Tor. All rooms come with en suite facilities, a television, and tea and coffee trays. The family room sleeps four, while the quirky single room at the back of the house features a skylight, garden views and a compact en suite with a quadrant shower.

Guests can relax in the comfortable lounge, which features a flagstone floor and a large woodburning stove set in an inglenook fireplace—perfect for unwinding after a day exploring the countryside.

In the morning, guests can enjoy a traditional English breakfast made from fresh local produce, with vegetarian and special dietary options available on request. A room-only option is also available for added flexibility.

Callisham Farm is ideally located just 12 miles from Plymouth and 7 miles from the historic market town of Tavistock. Meavy village, with its green, 12th-century church and 800-year-old Royal Oak Inn, is just a short walk away. The area also offers a selection of dog-friendly pubs, wild swimming spots, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy Dartmoor’s natural beauty.

We are comfortable walking distance from local amenities in Craignure and an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful Island. Our guest house offers comfortable and elegant accommodation, perfect for those who are wanting to rest, relax and recuperate. The house stands proudly amongst extensive lawns and enjoys wonderful views over Craignure Bay.

We have six guest rooms available, all of which have been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards and ensure we are providing guests with only the very best. From comfortable beds with Hypnos mattresses, dressed in high-quality bed linen to our lavish, top of the range bathroom fixtures, we have carefully thought about every detail.

Breakfast and dinner are served in the very special setting of the dining room: this handsome room is decorated in heritage colours set against hand-picked antique pieces. Its tall ceilings make it an imposing space, softened by delightful ambient lighting and delicate furnishings and china. Our passion is to showcase the very best of Mull’s wonderful rich larder. We use stunning local produce combined with herbs and leaves our own garden, perfect for a wonderful dining experience. The dining room looks out onto Craignure Bay and you can watch ferries coming in and out as you dine. Breakfast is served between 7.30 am and 9.30 am each morning. Packed lunches are available by arrangement.

Fitness retreats are also available, including yoga, walking, wild swimming and hiking.

Mull has something for everyone – a destination where history is around every corner and where you have the chance to live a lifestyle far removed from the hectic pressures of everyday life. Our Island has an enviable array of habitats, from the Ben More mountain range to the coastline of rocky outcrops and white sandy beaches. It is no surprise, therefore, that Mull is a wildlife enthusiast’s dream.
