It is centuries old and reputed to be one of the oldest buildings in Banbury. Originally an old farmhouse built mainly of the local Horton Stone, it is of particular interest to overseas visitors.

The house has charm and character with numerous fireplaces, exposed timbers and beams, stone flooring and wood panelling. The site itself is believed to date back to the 12th Century and is steeped in history. Previous owners, we understand, include The Bishop of Lincoln, The Reverend Risley Cotton and George Washington's nephew. Indeed, George Washington's house, Sulgrave Manor is only a few miles away.

We are situated on the edge of the town, a few minutes walk from the centre, where you can find shops, pubs and restaurants. This is a great location, making an ideal base for exploring the local areas, such as the City of Oxford with its dreaming spires (direct trains into Oxford approx 20 mins.), and the Cotswolds, including the delightful towns of Chipping Norton, Burford, Moreton-in-Marsh, Bourton-on-the-Water and Woodstock.

There are excellent shopping opportunities at the Castle Quay shopping centre in the town and at the nearby Bicester village.
