Ascot House, York, North Yorkshire
Ascot House offers magnificent accommodation in the historic city of York. The city centre of York is only a 15-minute walk away, making us a great base for exploring the local area.
We have twelve elegant en suite bedrooms available. All the rooms have TV, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, en suite facilities, hairdryers, radio alarms and free wireless broadband internet.
On the ground floor, there are two comfortable rooms, a twin room with a shower and toilet, and a double with bath, shower and toilet. These rooms are especially useful for guests who do not wish to climb stairs. The rooms do not qualify as 'suitable for the disabled' as access to the front of Ascot house is up a few steps, although we do have a wheelchair ramp.
Climbing the beautiful pitch pine staircase, the half-landing boasts an extremely rare and unusual curved stained oriel window. When on a sunny day, a cascade of colours light up the stairs on to the first floor where you will find six spacious bedrooms, with fourposter or canopy beds. On the top floor we have four spacious bedrooms with modern en suite showers.
There is a spacious and comfortable lounge where you can relax, watch television or enjoy a drink from the 'Butlers Pantry' courtesy of our residential licence. Tea and coffee are also served throughout the day in the lounge.
Delicious traditional and vegetarian breakfasts are served to you in our attractive dining room. Continental options are also available from our buffet with generous portions to start your day.
York has so much to offer with its narrow streets and medieval churches. Award-winning attractions with the Roman, Viking and National Railway Museums and of course, the Minster are all close by. It is also famous for our Racecourse with race meetings throughout the warmer months of May through to October. The world-renowned Ebor meeting is the most popular, if you are wishing to stay during any of the race meetings you will have to book well in advance.
