The Mansion, Whitehaven, Cumbria, Lake District National Park

The Mansion, built around 1770 and once home to the famous poet William Wordsworth, now features six additional en suite rooms, an indoor heated pool, and a sauna. This historic property boasts splendid views over the coastal town of Whitehaven, extending across The Solway Firth to Scotland and the Lake District's Western fells.

Located minutes from the England Coast Path, guests can explore the scenic route north to Allonby or south to Silecroft. The Mansion is also just a 10-minute drive from St Bees Beach, offering a sandy shore at low tide, a local ice cream parlour, a coffee shop, and, on clear days, stunning views of the Isle of Man.

For cycling enthusiasts, the C2C cycle route begins near Whitehaven Harbour, which is a short distance from the property. The harbour area features excellent restaurants and bars with relaxing marina views. The Mansion provides secure cycle storage and stocks essential supplies for those embarking on the coast-to-coast trip.

Accommodation options include mostly double rooms, which can be configured as twins or family rooms. A family room with a separate lounge/bedroom and an additional bedroom for children is also available. Special rates apply for children under 10, and breakfast is included for all guests. The Mansion offers a full breakfast spread and caters to most dietary requirements when notified at the time of booking.

Guests are encouraged to book directly through the website, Facebook page, or by phone to access special offers available exclusively for direct bookings.
