The Green Gate, Ardvally, Ardara, Co. Donegal

The Green Gate, Ardvally, Ardara, Co. Donegal

The Green Gate offers wonderful guest accommodation in Ardvally near Ardara. The guest house in Co. Donegal is the perfect place to escape to from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

This accommodation once belonged to and was created by the French philosopher Paul Chatenoud who owned Paris’ first ever music bookshop. Paul came to Ardara, a tweed and fishing town, to write his book ‘The Eye of the Ventriloquist’.

A copy is in each room. He bought the Green Gate 3 years later and lovingly restored and created his unique B&B. Paul passed away in 2014 and The Green Gate is now owned by Edouard, Paul’s son and managed by Paula with the full support of Edouard and his family.

This traditional thatched cottage offers 4 superb rooms to choose from. Rooms are tastefully furnished in stone, wood and iron and decorated in local tweed. The Honeymoon room enjoys stunning sea and mountain views.

All the rooms can be booked together to sleep up to 10 people.
