Stables Cottage sits in a beautiful part of Devon and enjoys stunning views of the surrounding countryside, overlooking the Taw Valley, just half a mile from the village of High Bickington. The two double guest rooms are in a beautifully converted barn, which is for guest’s exclusive use.

Breakfast is made using locally sourced produce wherever possible and is freshly cooked each morning We have a range of juices, fresh fruit, croissants, pancakes, yoghurt and of course a full English. We are also happy to prepare a lighter cooked option, please just ask.

The village of High Bickington has two pubs, a community shop and a post office as well as access to delightful walks with stunning views. 

North Devon has some of the most beautiful beaches in the southwest; Saunton Sands and Westward Ho are both 18 miles from Stables Cottage, while Braunton Burrows, Croyde and Woolacombe are all little more than 20 miles away. 

The area is blessed with a great range of other places to visit including the gardens at RHS Rosemoor, Dartington Glass, Arlington Court, Clovelly, and lots more. Why not take a boat trip out to the island of Lundy, or cycle or walk some of the wonderful Tarka Trail?

Guests can also access the sauna, Jacob wool shop (with throws, cushions, wool and hand knitted items), games room, children’s outside play area and meet the animals on the Devon Wildlife farm trail, with panoramic views.

The Spinney is a guest house located on the outskirts of Shirwell, near Barnstaple in Devon. This guest house has magnificent views across the stunning North Devon landscape.

There are a total of five guest rooms at The Spinney, all offering little luxuries that you would expect at a five star hotel. Four of the beautiful bedrooms offer en suite facilities and the fifth room has a private bathroom. All of the guest rooms have a flat screen TV, DVD player, bathrobes, luxury toiletries, tea & coffee making facilities & a hairdryer. The rooms also boast views over the local farmland and the rolling countryside.

Breakfast is served in the dining room where there is a range of food available. The food is cooked on a wonderful Rayburn, and the ingredients used are locally sourced wherever possible including local sausages and fresh eggs.

The cosy snug with its own log burner is an ideal place to meet other guests, read the paper or enjoy a drink. There is also Wi-Fi in this room for guests who need to check their emails. This room has a selection of board games, books, DVDs and puzzles that guests are welcome to use. On hotter days you are more than welcome to relax in the garden.

On the hotter days guests are more than welcome to use the garden to relax in where there are tables and chairs.

There is so much to do in Devon including walking with endless miles of bridleways and footpaths waiting to be explored. There are beautiful woodlands walks and stunning river walks that all offer lovely views. The area is also a surfer’s paradise with some of the UK's best surfing beaches on the B&B's doorstep.
