Thornhill is only 3 miles from Drumlanrig Castle situated on the Buccleuch and Queensberry Estate. The Madonna of the Yarnwinder by Leonardo da Vinci used to be on display at Drumlanrig Castle until it was stolen in 2003.

Thornhill is located only one hour drive by car from Glasgow and 1 hour and 20 min from Edinburgh.
