The Mash Tun was built in 1896 and is located on the edge of the River Spey in the village of Aberlour, Aberdeenshire. The property provides whisky themed bedrooms and locally sourced food.

The guest bedrooms are all finished to a high standard and include en suite facilities, TV, free Wi-Fi and tea/coffee making facilities. The food is all served in the bar area and is contemporary Scottish cooking.

There is also a whisky bar which includes a variety of whiskies which are from varies distilleries around Scotland. There is also a large selection of family casks.

The owner of the accommodation, Mark can arrange for you to go fishing on the river as well as shooting at nearby estates. If this is not your thing then the area has plenty of other things to see and do. There is the Speyside Way which is popular for walking and cycling as well as several attractions including Brodie Castle and the Scottish Dolphin Centre.

Lodge of Finlarig is approximately 30 miles south of Inverness and just over 60 miles north of Pitlochry.

Lodge of Finlarig was designed by us, when we set out to take advantage of this unique site above Dulnain Bridge.

We run Lodge B and B a bit like a Wolsey Lodge when our visitors stay they seem to finish up as friends and say they will be back. We offer dinner as an option - tired business couples warn us in advance if they want an "evening in". We are very much "at home" with a friendly dinner party atmosphere.

Strathspey is the valley of the River Spey with its source in the central highlands. It passes the Cairngorm Mountains, the main centre for Scottish winter sports and on to the famous whisky distilling area. Lodge of Finlarig is in the Cairngorms National Park.

The surrounding forests of mature Caledonian Pines contain many rare and interesting species. The bird list is headed by the endangered Capercaillie which are regularly seen. There are Scottish Crossbills, the small but beautiful Crested Tit, Buzzards, Eagles, and of course Ospreys. The Red Squirrel is very much at home here!
