Holly Cottage, Hagworthingham, Horncastle, Lincolnshire

Holly Cottage, Hagworthingham, Horncastle, Lincolnshire

Holly Cottage is a charming blend of a small period cottage and stylish, architect-designed contemporary extensions spanning three floors, creating a property full of character. Nestled on a valley side at the edge of the village of Hagworthingham, close to the ford, it is surrounded by beautiful, quiet, and unspoiled countryside. The area offers a variety of scenic walks, ranging from short strolls to longer hikes, with a landscape that is gently or more steeply undulating—contrary to the common perception of Lincolnshire as entirely flat.

Located in the southeastern corner of the Lincolnshire Wolds Natural Landscape, Hagworthingham provides superb far-reaching views. The village features a well-regarded pub, two cafés, and a farm shop with a butchery. The surrounding area is ideal for walking and cycling, with easy access to the coast to the east and the historic cathedral city of Lincoln to the west. Nearby attractions include motor racing at Cadwell Park, horse racing at Market Rasen, and several aviation heritage museums. The local market towns are rich in character, and antique emporiums are plentiful.

Holly Cottage offers two double rooms and a twin room, all of which are en suite. Single occupancy is welcomed, and at certain times, the guest area can be rented as self-catering accommodation for up to six people. The grassy hillside garden provides a peaceful retreat, making the property an ideal base for work in the area, a short B&B break, or longer B&B or self-catering holidays.

Rates:

From £75 per person per night for single occupancy, including breakfast.
From £100 per room per night for two people sharing, including breakfast.
Discounted rates are available for stays of three nights or more.
Children are welcome, and guests can enjoy Wi-Fi access and off-street parking. Please note that pets are not permitted.

It sits in a lovely position, nestling on a valley side right at the end of the village of Hagworthingham, close to the ford and is surrounded by beautiful quiet and unspoiled countryside. There are many lovely walks from the door, both long and short, and the terrain is not the flat landscape that most people believe Lincolnshire to be but is gently or more steeply undulating.

www.thebandbdirectory.co.uk Baumber Park Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast, Baumber, Horncastle, Lincolnshire

Baumber Park is a spacious, elegant farmhouse on a working farm. The original house, seen best from the back, dates from about 1680 but was much enlarged in the 19th century to form the present imposing family home.

The guest rooms have large bay windows giving excellent views over the garden and farmland and are furnished with antique furniture in keeping with the house.

The gardens, about an acre in extent and largely created by the Harrisons, are a riot of colour in the summer months and there is a large wildlife pond at the bottom of the lawn. The kitchen garden grows most of the fruit and vegetables used in the house.

There are also local rare breed cows and sheep plus dogs and cats, livestock associated with a traditional farm. In the past the farm was a famous stud farm which bred the Derby winner of 1875, a horse called Galopin, the sire of St. Simon who is often regarded as the father of many modern racehorses.
