Dating from 1680, we are Reeth’s oldest surviving inn. The Black Bull comes with lots of gorgeous period features and overlooks the village green and enjoys glorious views of Swaledale. All our rooms are individually designed and brimming with character, including oak beams, exposed brickwork and sash windows.

We hope our menu offers a broad selection and that you find something to your appetite. You can savour a variety of locally sourced meats, vegetables, fresh fish and seafood. You can also enjoy a wide selection of real ales and quality wines at our traditional bar. We also offer regular live music and special events. A pool table, dartboard and children’s activities ensure the whole family will be entertained.

Reeth lies where two of North Yorkshire's finest dales meet. The most northerly of these is Arkengarthdale, which is relatively unexplored and one of the more tranquil dales. The other, Swaledale, is formed from gentle slopes as the meandering Swale winds its way to Richmond. Reeth, at the juncture of these two dales, is at the heart of Swaledale. It has a large village green where traditional events and markets are often held.

Our hotel is located in one of the most beautiful parts of England. No matter the season the views are wonderful; it is no wonder the area has thousands of walkers that visit every year. The stone walls, sheep grazed pastures, small hamlets, villages, shooting lodges, farmsteads and stone cottages are steeped in history yet part of a living landscape.

There are many things to do in the local area including walking; the River Swale is famous for its beauty and there are many well-signed walks along its banks. The hotel is also located close to Catterick, Thirsk, Ripon, Sedgefield, York and of course the North York Moors National Park.
