Local permits are very cheap and apply to all lochs in Shetland, of which there are hundreds. There are boat trips which take you out to the stunning cliffs of Noss, these leave from Lerwick, book at the tourist office.

Spiggie Loch is the best loch is Shetland for fishing and Spiggie Beach is one the best beaches to visit in the area. The beach is only 5 minutes away. The Shetland Angler's Association has equipment available for hire and you can catch 2 – 3lbs trout and sea trout.
