Hillcrest House, Dovedale, Ashbourne, Derbyshire

Surrounded by the most stunning views and countryside, what better place to stay and explore the National Park. You can leave your car and set off on foot in any direction, on some of the most popular footpaths in the Peak District.

Use the garden to relax and unwind after your long day walking the dales or sightseeing. Enjoy a pot of tea whilst watching people climb Thorpe Cloud or relax with the newspapers or a good book.

Why not cook yourselves an evening meal on our large gas BBQ (we'll supply the cutlery / crockery you just supply the food and we'll do the washing up as well!). If it gets chillier, retire to our summerhouse to extend the evening or you could use the summerhouse on the days when it’s too warm outside.

We also have a large variety of birds that come to our garden and feed right outside the lounge windows, from where you can sit and watch them feeding - they include blue tits, finches, nut hatches, coal tits and robins. Pheasants pick at the seeds and we've also had, on occasions, lesser spotted woodpeckers.

www.thebandbdirectory.co.uk Hillcrest House, Wigtown, Dumfries and Galloway

Hillcrest is a beautiful old house, situated to take advantage of the glorious views of the Galloway Hills, Wigtown Bay and across the Solway Firth to the hills of the English Lakes District.

We have been as careful as possible with our changes as we wanted to retain the character and charm of the building, and we work hard at combining good, honest food (for which we have been awarded a gold medal at each of the last three Scottish Hotel of the Year awards) with lovely, comfortable rooms to give our guests a perfect stay.

All of the bedrooms are spacious with high ceilings and en-suite bathrooms.
When you come down to the dining room, you will find juice, fruit, local yoghurts, and a selection of cereals on the sideboard to get you started.

Whether your perfect break includes Dark Sky star-gazing, birdwatching, walking, cycling, gardens, golf, fishing, wildfowling or just relaxing and browsing the many bookshops, stay with us, eat with us, make yourselves at home and share with us the stunning beauty all around that made us choose this as our home.
