Cycling - there are some great cycle routes around Arran and fantastic mountain bike routes over the hills. Paragliding - learn how to fly or have a tandem flight with an instructor. Arran is home of Scotland’s only full-time paragliding school Flying Fever.

Dunvegan House is a sandstone building that is a 4 star rated guest house in the village of Brodick on the Isle of Arran. The guest house sits right on the seafront, between the pier (Arran's main ferry terminal) and the heart of the village. From here you get magnificent views of Brodick Bay, the Ayrshire coast and Goatfell, Arran's highest mountain.

There is a cosy and welcoming guests' lounge, where you can relax after a hard day's sightseeing or hill walking. The dining room is bright and airy and overlooks Brodick Bay. Helen and George pride themselves on the high standards of their cuisine and use only the freshest of local produce wherever possible.

The table d'hote menu includes such starters as melon and prawn salad, cream of carrot and ginger soup and crepes filled with mushroom sauce and topped with cheese. The main dishes include Kintyre grilled salmon, Scotch sirloin steak or chicken with Arran mustard. 

You can then choose from a selection of sweets or the cheeseboard. Other menus are available on request. This is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday on one of Scotland's most beautiful islands, and if you arrive by ferry, either Helen or George will be more than pleased to pick you up from the ferry if you give prior notice.

Blackwaterfoot Lodge is named after the village in which it is situated, no more than 50 yards from the picturesque Blackwaterfoot harbour and a five-minute stroll from the long and wide sandy beach bordering the unique 12 hole links of Shiskine Golf Course, one of the top 100 courses in the UK.

The building is late Victorian; the house is warm and welcoming, comprising:

Six en-suite double, family or twin bedrooms and two with h&c, plus a two-bedroom self-catering cottage.

Arran is an island, 20 miles long and 57 miles around, located off the south-west coast of Scotland. Picturesque villages like pearls on a necklace are strung around its edge. The climate is tempered by the Gulf Stream and is mild enough to support the growth of palm trees.

Annual events include the Wildlife Festival in May, the Arran Festival of Folk around the second week in June, and the Brodick Highland Games in early August. There are also various hill races; Goatfell in mid-May, Glen Rosa in mid-June and Urie Loch in mid-July. Shiskine Valley Sports Day happens in July, shortly after the Shiskine half-marathon race.

The Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland is known as 'Scotland in miniature'. The lowland/highland fault line divides the island giving granite mountains in the north and gently rolling grasslands and raised beaches in the south. Arran is the most accessible of the Scottish Islands with direct public transport links. You can have breakfast in London and lunch on the Isle of Arran! It's 55 mins to Glasgow and a further 55 minutes on the ferry. 

Arran offers visitors a wide variety of activities and has lots of places of interest to suit all ages. Arran has lots of places of geographic and archaeological interest. It has been inhabited for 1000's of years.
