Kilmarnock Arms, Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire

Kilmarnock Arms, Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire

This independent, warm, and friendly hotel features burning log fires, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, and ample parking. Conveniently located just 10 minutes from both Peterhead and Ellon and only one mile off the A90, the hotel offers a cosy retreat in the heart of Cruden Bay.

Situated just 800 metres from the renowned Cruden Bay Golf Course, the hotel is a short walk from the beach, harbour, and the imposing ruins of Slains Castle. The castle is famously known as a source of inspiration for Bram Stoker, a frequent guest of the hotel when writing his novel *Dracula*. In recognition of this, Historic Environment Scotland has awarded the hotel a commemorative plaque, noting that the early chapters of *Dracula* were written here in 1895. Guests are also just a 30-minute drive from the city of Aberdeen, with scenic views of Newburgh, Trump International, and Royal Aberdeen Golf Courses along the way.

Recently restored, the hotel offers 22 en suite bedrooms that maintain the historic charm of the building. A variety of room options are available, including standard, attic, garden view, and patio rooms, catering to different budgets and preferences. The hotel also provides two pet-friendly bedrooms with outdoor areas.

Guests can choose to dine in the bright and airy dining room or the warm and cosy lounge, with all menus available in both settings, including room service. The Head Chef and his team use the finest seasonal and locally sourced ingredients to craft delightful dishes. With Peterhead and Fraserburgh home to Europe’s largest white fish and shellfish ports, fresh, high-quality ingredients are always in abundance. Guests are encouraged to view the hotel’s menus online.

The hotel also features a local public bar that broadcasts all major sporting events, including football matches on Sky Sports and BT Sport. Guests are welcome to ask the friendly staff if there is a specific event they wish to watch.

The hotel strives to offer a home-from-home experience for business travellers, leisure guests, and golfers alike. Guests are invited to visit TripAdvisor to read reviews from those who have previously stayed and shared their experiences.

Elen's Castle Hotel, Dolwyddelan, Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, Snowdonia National Park

Elen's Castle Hotel, Dolwyddelan, Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, Snowdonia National Park

Elen's Castle Hotel was once an 18th Century coaching inn and originally part of the Earl of Ancaster's Welsh Estate. Today it provides a unique place to relax at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.

All rooms are en suite and several have baths as well as showers. Each room is well equipped and furnished for your comfort with:

A television.
Beverage tray.
Hairdryer.
Radio/alarm clock .
Wireless broadband internet connection.

To ensure a good night's sleep, all beds are firm (so no roll-together!). Room service is available. There is a wood-burning stove in the bar.

A mouthwatering, delicious, home-cooked eating experience in an informal and friendly atmosphere in a historic building with views.

The hotel is in the centre of the village. Dolwyddelan stands at a natural and historical crossroads, at the foot of Moel Siabod – 2861 feet (872m), straddling the trout and salmon-rich Afon Lledr, a river, which winds its way through meadows and turbulent gorges northwards to join the Afon Conwy at Llyn yr Afanc.

They have won a Silver in the Green Tourism Awards which means we are carbon neutral for heating and hot water. They also have 2 electric car charging points - one for a Tesla and one for any type 2 electric vehicle.

The Castle is just 1 mile down the road, just outside the village centre, controls a commanding and awesome panorama and the views from the battlements are breathtaking; the Crimea Pass (Bwlch y Gorddinan) and the Moelwyn Mountains, towards Moel Siabod and away to the Denbigh Moors.
