The Old Station Guest House B&B is in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, just under ten minutes by car along quiet country lanes from the historic county town of Shrewsbury. Its central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the rich landscape of Shropshire, the Welsh Borders and even parts of Cheshire.

Originally constructed in 1847, this former railway station has been lovingly restored and expanded into a welcoming bed and breakfast. It offers six uniquely designed en-suite guest rooms, each one named after a GWR steam engine and featuring charming Victorian-style décor. Guests have a choice of quad, triple, double and twin rooms, some equipped with TVs, and all with tea and coffee-making facilities. For added convenience and accessibility, there is a ground floor double room with a wet room. Each stay includes a full English breakfast, providing a hearty start to the day’s activities.

The dining room, once the original station waiting room, is where guests can enjoy freshly prepared breakfasts and pre-ordered evening meals, all cooked to order. The guest sitting room, formerly the booking office, has been transformed into a cosy space to relax with a book or chat with fellow travellers. On sunny days, guests are welcome to unwind outdoors on the original station platform or in one of the two patio areas, both equipped with tables, chairs and umbrellas. For those travelling with pets, there is a large covered dog kennel with an attached run in the grounds.

- The Lord Dundonald Room: This room features antique mahogany furnishings, including the Great Bed of Jackfield—a large four-poster bed circa 1800, measuring 7 feet wide, 8 feet long, and 9 feet high. It overlooks the Ironbridge Gorge.

- The William Hazeldine Room: A spacious room with Ormolu furnishings and a French restoration bed in the style of Louis XV, dating around 1850.

- The Alexander Brodie Room: This room includes antique painted oak furnishings and a delightful country-style four-poster bed circa 1750. It has original oak floorboards and overlooks the Ironbridge Gorge.

- The Thomas Telford Room: Located on the ground floor in the coach house conversion, this room features divan beds that can be zipped together to form a king-size bed.

- The William of Orange Room: Situated in the coach house conversion, this room boasts a gorgeous French bed and hand-painted furniture.

- The William Reynold Room: Found on the first floor of the coach house conversion, this room has sloping ceilings and exposed oak purlins. It may not be suitable for tall guests.

- The James Glazebrook Room: Also located in the coach house, this charming room features sloping ceilings and exposed oak purlins, making it less ideal for tall individuals.

Guests can enjoy a wonderful breakfast in the period dining room, which features oak floorboards and a large cast iron fireplace. While savouring a home-cooked breakfast, guests can admire stunning views over the garden and Ironbridge Gorge.

Following a fantastic refurbishment of this Grade II historic inn, we now feature a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, inviting outdoor spaces with an oak pavilion and landscaped gardens, plus four stunning bed & breakfast rooms.

Each room is equipped with smart TVs, USB charging stations, abundant electrical outlets, hairdryers, facilities for tea and coffee, complimentary WiFi and options for drying damp outerwear. The stay includes a hearty breakfast, with the option to purchase a packed lunch.

Room 1 (Batch Valley): A twin room with an en-suite shower, decorated with original beams, previously serving as the owner's private kitchen.

Room 2 (Ashes Valley): Our most spacious room offers an en-suite shower, decorative beams, heritage windows with a window seat and a distinctive slipper bath at its heart.

Room 3 (Inwood): A cosy double room with an en-suite shower, a sleek sliding door and elegant wooden panelling.

The pub has maintained its traditional charm with a classic bar adorned with box seating, a wood-burning stove and hardwood floors. The dining room serves breakfast and daily meals, offering a semi-private ambience ideal for larger groups without feeling separated from the bar ambience.

Our exterior space includes a beer garden capable of accommodating up to 150 guests, featuring a covered oak pavilion with a log burner and an external bar. In the summer, we delight our guests with homemade wood-fired pizzas right from our outdoor pizza oven.
