Rye Hill Farm, Slaley, Hexham, Northumberland

Rye Hill Farm offers a peaceful countryside retreat on the outskirts of Slaley, just five miles from Hexham, making it the ideal destination for a relaxing getaway in Northumberland.

This charming bed and breakfast is set on a 300-year-old working sheep farm surrounded by tranquil scenery. The traditional stone farm buildings have been beautifully renovated to provide comfortable and welcoming accommodation. Guests are encouraged to explore the farm, meet the friendly sheep, ponies and chickens, or simply relax on the patio and take in the rural views.

Accommodation at Rye Hill Farm includes one double room with a king-sized bed and two family rooms, each sleeping two adults and two children in a king, single and trundle bed, with space for a travel cot if needed. Every room features an en suite bathroom, fresh towels, a hair dryer, complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee-making facilities, biscuits and a flat-screen TV.

Each morning, guests can enjoy a hearty home-cooked breakfast prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The menu includes sausages, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and fried bread, alongside the farm’s own free-range eggs. Lighter options such as porridge, cereals, homegrown stewed fruits, Yeo Valley yoghurt, homemade brown bread, jams and marmalade are also available. Dietary requirements can be catered for wherever possible.

Facilities at the property include a small microwave and cutlery on the first floor, as well as a comfortable sitting room on the ground floor for guests to unwind. A laundry room with a washer, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron is also available for use.

Rye Hill Farm is particularly family-friendly, with outdoor play facilities, a Mud Pie Kitchen and a Games Barn complete with a skittle alley, table tennis and a pool table.

The surrounding area offers plenty to see and do, with Hexham and Corbridge just over a ten-minute drive away. Visitors can enjoy shopping, arts and entertainment at The Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, leisure activities at the Wentworth Leisure Centre and the local outdoor market. Nearby attractions include Hexham Abbey, Hexham Racecourse, Hadrian’s Wall, Allen Banks and Staward Gorge (a National Trust site) and Falconry Days.
