5 Places to Visit This Spring

5 Places to Visit This Spring

Today is the Vernal Equinox, which means that the first day of spring is here at last! To celebrate, here are 5 of our favourite places for a springtime getaway:

1. The English Riviera (or Torbay) is a beautiful area of Devon's coast, consisting of Torquay, Paignton, Brixham & Babbacombe. The area boasts some of the longest days & highest hours of sunshine found anywhere in England, so its sandy beaches & palm tree-lined streets are very popular during the summer months. Visiting in spring means you can enjoy the blue skies & sunshine by the sea without the busy summer crowds - perfection!

2. When it comes to the great outdoors, Dumfries & Galloway truly has it all! Adrenaline junkies will be spoilt for choice, with everything from windsurfing to mountain biking on offer in glorious settings. The less adventurous can enjoy discovering the GSA Biosphere, a UNESCO protected area selected for scientific studies relating to conservation of biodiversity. With so much to see & do, a spring break here can be as action-packed as you like!

Chapel Outon Farmhouse, Whithorn, Dumfries & Gal.
3. Did you know that the Isle of Man is a wonderful destination for stargazing? There are 26 dark sky sites located all around the island, so you'll never be far from a stargazing hotspot! As the nights get less chilly, the whole family can enjoy amazing astronomical displays together. The long summer nights mean fewer opportunities, so spring is the perfect season for it!

4. Caernarfon is the perfect base for exploring North Wales! Home to Wales' most famous castle, the town has a rich & fascinating history as well as a stylish waterfront & lots of independent shops. If you feel like heading further afield, both the Isle of Anglesey & the Snowdonia National Park are on your doorstep!

5. Co Antrim may be best known for the Giant's Causeway, but it has so much more to see & do! Head to The Gobbins Coastal Path & take the guided walk which hugs the dramatic cliff face. You'll marvel at the scenery, hear tales of local smugglers, and maybe even spot some dolphins!
