Ferniehirst Mill Lodge was built in 1980. Its modern design gives all the amenities required for your comfort whilst blending with the existing mill buildings and stables. The lodge is 2.5 miles south of Jedburgh and situated in a secluded valley beside the Jed Water in its own 25 acres of land.

It is a haven for birdlife. The holiday accommodation consists of 8 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms. All have tea/coffee making facilities. The spacious lounge overlooks the Jed Water. The Scottish Borders, whilst providing a gateway to the rest of Scotland, also offers the visitor a great deal in its own right.

There is an abbey, founded in 1138 by David I, Mary Queen of Scots House, where she stayed in 1566 and Jedburgh Castle Jail Museum, built on the site of the original Jethart Castle. The town is centrally placed for touring the rest of the Borders and visiting the numerous historic houses, castles and abbeys in the area.

We are 1.5km from the main street. Railway Country House is set back from the road and once guests come under the railway bridge they are treated to a huge garden, a recently renovated property, with a guest patio, and secure parking.

We are just over 1 hours drive from Dublin Airport. Wicklow is very accessible from our location, meaning its a fantastic base for guests who want to explore the nearby Garden of Ireland the beautiful coastline of the sunny south east. There is horse trekking nearby and a selection of wonderful golf courses. Gorey train station is 2 km from us and there is an hourly bus to Dublin from Gorey main street. We are also minutes by car from Courtown and a host of beautiful sandy beaches.

We offer 14 bedrooms all of which have been recently refurbished as we extended and modernised the property. There is a choice of single rooms, double, luxury king and a selection of luxurious well appointed family rooms. All bedrooms are en suite, with TV, free Wi-Fi, tea facilities, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. Ironing facilities are available on request.

Free private parking is available onsite as well as a guest lounge.

The Quay House offers unique accommodation, in a beautiful 200 former Harbour Master’s house dating back to C1820 in the historic town of Clifden in Co Galway. The Quay House has been sensitively restored and now offers superb guest accommodation in fifteen, individually decorated guest rooms; each with full bathrooms, top quality orthopaedic beds and all but three overlooking the picturesque harbour below whilst the remaining 3 have scenic gardens views. We have a range of doubles, twins, family and triple rooms available and each room has been individually furnished with stunning vintage antiques and original paintings and several have working fireplaces. All have large bathrooms with tubs and showers and there is also one ground floor room for wheelchair users.

The interior of the guest house has been thoughtfully decorated in a unique and quirky style with wonderful decorative details throughout which help to create a superbly relaxing and restful atmosphere. There are two sitting rooms with open fires for the use of guests, comfortable furniture and a good selection of reading material and board games.

Breakfast is somewhat of an indulgent affair, served in our grand leafy conservatory with everything freshly prepared and cooked to order. We offer a varied choice of dishes including seafood, devilled kidneys, the ‘full Irish’, locally-smoked salmon, organic porridge, free-range eggs and farm cheeses. Our famous brown bread and fruit brack are both baked daily in the AGA and all breakfasts are served with freshly squeezed orange juice together with fresh fruits, organic muesli and yoghurt.

The Quay House stands right on the harbour, just 7 minutes walk from Clifden town centre. The town is known as the “Capital of Connemara” boasts a thriving tourism industry as its unique and picturesque setting between the foothills of the Twelve Bens and the Atlantic Ocean attracts thousands of visitors annually. Clifden will leave the weary traveller, relaxed, rejuvenated and eager to return again.
