The Garth Hotel, Grantown-on-Spey, Morayshire, Highlands

The Garth Hotel, Grantown-on-Spey, Morayshire, Highlands

The Garth Hotel, built in 1769, has long been a cornerstone of Grantown-on-Spey. Originally a highland woollen mill, the building has also been home to Queen Victoria’s favourite author and has served as a residence for the town's physicians and ministers. Today, the Garth Hotel is a vibrant and relaxed hospitality venue. Ideally located, it is just a two-minute walk from the museum, town square, and high street, and only five minutes from the Craig Maclean Leisure Centre and Grantown-on-Spey's 18-hole golf course, making it the perfect base for exploring Grantown, Badenoch, and Strathspey.

Located just 15 miles from Aviemore, the Garth Hotel is an ideal destination for both short and long stays. The hotel offers 18 comfortable en-suite bedrooms, each tastefully decorated, with some rooms providing views of the famous Grantown-on-Spey square. The hotel is dog-friendly, and several ground-floor rooms are specially designed for guests with limited mobility. The room options available include:

- 1 twin room
- 1 single room
- 8 double rooms
- 5 zip-link super king or twin rooms
- 3 family rooms

Guests can book their stay on a bed and breakfast (BB) basis or opt for dinner, bed and breakfast (DBB). All rates include VAT, free parking, and free Wi-Fi, and are based on two guests sharing a twin or double room.

The hotel’s restaurant, 1769, features daily changing menus that showcase the finest local ingredients from the Cairngorms. Peter and his team of young, passionate chefs, all with experience from some of Scotland's top venues, bring a touch of class and flair to the Garth. The dining experience is well-rounded and approachable, with simplicity at its heart.

No visit to the heart of Speyside would be complete without experiencing the hotel's famous hospitality and spirits. The beer garden has become a popular spot for guests, offering a perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. It is enjoyable in all weather conditions, with a little snow transforming the garden, and the warmth of open-fire heating providing a unique experience that should not be missed.
