www.thebandbdirectory.co.uk The Church Inn, Buxton, Derbyshire

The Church Inn has been here since 1742 when a certain George Holme opened it as an alehouse called the 'Blacksmith's Arms', but it was renamed the 'Church Inn' in 1884.

We offer Bed and Breakfast accommodation for up to six people, well located for visits to nearby Buxton or for exploring the Peak District, and we serve tasty meals from a varied menu at lunch times and in the evenings.

All are newly fitted out and tastefully furnished with pine furniture, and all have an en-suite shower room equipped with toilet, washbasin and shower.

Chelmorton is a Saxon settlement originally called 'Chelmerdon' and is mentioned in the Domesday Book, but the area has had human inhabitants far longer than that, because only a ten minute walk from the Church Inn lies Five Wells Cairn - a Neolithic chambered cairn which has a magnificent view over the surrounding countryside.
