Broadgate House, Broadgate, Millom, Cumbria

Broadgate is a traditional Georgian house, built in 1819 with stunning views across the Duddon Estuary; landscape immortalised in Wordsworth’s poetry.

The sole occupants of Broadgate for almost 200 years have been the Lewthwaite family and following an extensive but sympathetic redecoration in 2000, this splendid villa remains a late Georgian gem.

Broadgate makes the perfect base for touring the Western Lake District by foot, bicycle or car, taking in the pleasures of this beautiful area without the crowds. Sporting types can choose from a number of lovely golf courses, take a horseback trek along the coast and through the hills or enjoy the watersports on offer at Haverigg, among many other activities. To experience something rather different, visit the Cumbrian Heavy Horses just a mile or so down the valley.
