The Smugglers Rest, Mortehoe, Woolacombe, Devon
Built in the 1800s and steeped in history, the Smugglers Rest Bed and Breakfast has been welcoming visitors for over 100 years. Nestled at the entrance to the quaint coastal village of Morthoe, just a short walk away from one of Europe's best beaches at Woolacombe, this historic building has recently undergone extensive renovations under the care of new owners Stacey and Will to transform the old bar into the charming Miss Fea's Bistro.
Whether you fancy soaking up the summer sun over a glass of rose in the lovely sheltered garden or thawing out next to the cosy wood burning stove with a steaming mug of posh hot chocolate after a brisk winter walk, Miss Fae's is open to offer a friendly welcome all year round.
The Bistro offers fabulous food in a relaxing environment, offering some of the finest Devonshire produce. Whether you fancy a succulent loin of Exmoor venison or wonderful roast hake fillet, we have something for everyone.
The unrivalled countryside and multitude of winding coastal paths starting immediately outside Miss Fae's doorstep just beg to be explored. Why not let them help make your alfresco exploits even more memorable with our selection of wicker packed picnics and travel hampers, available to pre-order with or without champagne... they'll even supply you with a picnic blanket, so all you need to bring is your hiking boots and your sense of adventure.
For those planning on staying to explore the beautiful surrounding area, the Smugglers Rest offers 8 spacious en suite rooms, boasting stunning views across the countryside. We have 3 double rooms, 4 king size rooms, 1 twin room and 1 family room available. Breakfast is, of course, served in the comfortable surroundings of Miss Fae's Cafe, and dogs are warmly welcomed!
Initially opening for day time delectations, Miss Fae's will eventually offer heavenly cooked breakfasts for non-residents and will host regular evening dining events, live music and murder mystery nights. Stacey and Will are incredibly proud and excited to usher the long established Smugglers Rest into her bright new future, and look forward to welcoming you very soon - there really is life in the old dog yet!
