Dungallan Country House, Oban, Argyll
Built as a summer residence in 1870 for the Duke of Argyll, Dungallan Country House is now a 5-star, adult-only guest house. Meticulously restored and recently refurbished, the tasteful interiors were inspired by the house’s grand aristocratic heritage resulting in an elegant, classic Highlands aesthetic filled with quality fabrics and polished finishes.
Located a 10-minute walk from Oban town centre, this is an ideal base for a spot of Scottish island hopping, taking in distillery tours and castles along the way, as well as a welcome retreat after a day on the golf course. Days at Dungallan start in the breakfast room with a choice ranging from continental breakfast, full Scottish, homemade omelette or pancakes. All the ingredients are top quality and locally sourced. Both locals and guests particularly love the afternoon tea, which is all baked and prepared in-house, and served in the lounge bar, library or wraparound patio.
Come evening, the lounge bar is a great space to relax with a choice of over 180 whiskies, a growing selection of Scottish island gins as well as a choice of individually selected wine, prosecco and Champagne.
