The Ancient Gatehouse Hotel, Wells, Somerset

The Ancient Gatehouse Hotel, Wells, Somerset

The Ancient Gatehouse Hotel can be found near the centre of Wells, which is the smallest city in England. For over 40 years our hotel has offered comfortable and relaxing guest accommodation, great food and wonderful views of the green and Wells Cathedral.

All of our guest rooms have been recently refurbished and boast modern and contemporary styles full of charm and character. Our guest rooms have en suite facilities, some with four-poster beds and many enjoy a view over Wells Cathedral Green and the famous west front of Wells Cathedral. One of our favourite guest rooms is actually in the Great West Gate House (now called Browne’s Gate).

All of our guest rooms are Laura Ashley designed and furnished and have digital flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary mineral water from either Glastonbury or Cheddar’s spring.

Our hotel also features Rugantinos restaurant which is 1 of 3 restaurants in the Rossi and Rossi loyalty scheme which offers members monthly offers, discounts and new information about our different places to eat and accommodation. Achieving 40 years in the catering industry is no mean feat in a competitive market and Rugantinos at The Ancient Gatehouse Hotel has celebrated its birthday with a refurbishment, to ensure the restaurant's appearance and ambience match the high quality of its food.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Cathedral, the Bishop's Palace & Gardens and the city centre where a farmers market is held every Wednesday and Saturday. There are a variety of shops to peruse, both independent and high street names and some lovely places to stop for a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

www.thebandbdirectory.co.uk Apple Bed & Breakfast, Glastonbury, Somerset

http://thebandbdirectory.co.uk/

Centrally located in the heart of Glastonbury, Apple Bed & Breakfast opened in April 2005 and has been described as an elegant Victorian house with a modern touch. It was built in 1898 and retains many period features, but in the 15 years we've lived here we've tried to improve and update it.

There are original stripped pine floors and doors throughout, and a garden room has been added to welcome in the sunshine. The decor is a mix of Victorian and colourful modern style. The guest rooms are of a good size, with high ceilings and the emphasis is on cleanliness and comfort.

Apple Bed & Breakfast is a non smoking house, although guests are welcome to smoke outside in the garden.

One of the reasons we chose our house was that it has a lovely feel to it - something many people remark on when they visit. We hope that these happy vibes, together with its friendly, relaxed atmosphere and our warm welcome, will help to make your stay extra special.

Breakfast is served in our sunny garden room, or, in summer, guests can take breakfast in the garden under our mistletoe-laden apple-tree. We serve a copious and varied vegetarian continental breakfast consisting mostly of organic produce. Our jams and preserves are home-made, and we bake our own fresh organic bread daily. Where possible, we use local produce for our breakfasts - including our own Bramley apples, grown on our un-sprayed tree in the garden - and we have a large range of teas and coffees to choose from, including organic and fair trade.
