The town is an ancient Saxon Hilltop town standing just over 700 feet above sea level. Shaftesbury is famous for its Gold Hill which was featured in the unforgettable Hovis advert, directed by Ridley Scott.
Among many of the towns attractions are the ruins of
Shaftesbury Abbey built in 888 ad which was demolished by command of Henry
VIII. There are numerous restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance.
The Chalet features a very high standard of
accommodation.
