The Crown
is a Grade II listed building that has been transformed into a comfortable Inn
and Restaurant with many original features still in place. Inglenook fire places, lagstone floors and
carvings in wooden beams set in an historic atmosphere for you to take lodgings
or dine.
Accommodation
at the Crown Country Inn consists of three bedrooms situated in an old Georgian
stable block set to the back of the main building. Our rooms are named after
Norman castles along the Corvedale. Stokesay castle is a medieval manor house
which is open to the public.
Situated
between Wenlock Edge and the Clee Hills, in the Vale of the River Corve, the
Crown's history dates back into Tudor times when it was formed into one of the
Shropshire Hundred Houses.
The Crown
was first licensed in 1790 and is still a central meeting point in the
Shropshire countryside. 2 AA Rosettes
for food, 4 star AA Inn classification,
listings
in the Good Food Guide, Michelin Eating Out in Pubs Guide and numerous other
awards are a testament to the commitment of the resident owners Richard and
Jane, since they took over in 2001.
