The Birkdale Guest House, Shanklin, Isle of Wight
The Birkdale Guest house is situated in a quiet side road just 100 yards from the heart of Shanklin’s picturesque Old Village where you will find a variety of thatched tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and shops. Nearby attractions include the beautiful Shanklin Chine, Rylstone Gardens, Shanklin Theatre and of course the lovely beach and esplanade.
The guest house is ideally located for sightseeing, whether using your own car or the Island’s excellent transport system, or perhaps walking or cycling, it is easy to explore the beautiful countryside and stunning scenery along with the many and varied visitor attractions.
The house is a Victorian detached property built on two floors. It retains many of the Victorian features whilst offering modern day comforts. There is ample free off-road parking at the front of the property.
The accommodation consists of seven tastefully and individually furnished rooms, all with en-suite facilities. There are two superior rooms - one with an en-suite whirlpool bath and separate shower, the other with a four-poster bed and double shower en-suite. Of the seven guest rooms, three are on the ground floor. The dining area and guest lounge are also on the ground floor. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.
In the morning you can enjoy breakfast including traditional full English. Guests can also choose from a variety of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, juices and toast. Tea and coffee is served and a selection of fruit/herbal teas are available. Special dietary needs can be catered for but ask that you bring these to the owners attention when making your booking.
The comfortable guest lounge is open during your stay and includes a wide screen TV, a selection of games, reference books and novels to borrow.
