Haddon House, West Bay, Bridport, Dorset
Haddon House is a regency-style country house hotel and is the area’s only three-star A.A and E.T.C Hotel. The hotel is set in over an acre of grounds and is situated just 300 yards from the picturesque harbour of West Bay, close to the market town of Bridport. It is an ideal base for touring the counties of Dorset, Devon and Somerset.
All of our guest bedrooms, (two on the ground floor) are of good size and have been furnished to a high standard. The en suite bathrooms are equipped with a bath and shower attachment while the bedrooms have been luxuriously furbished and equipped with direct dial telephones, trouser press, hairdryer, radio alarm clock, baby listening services, tea and coffee tray, thermostatically controlled radiator and complimentary toiletries.
There is a very comfortable resident's lounge and bar where guests can take afternoon tea or aperitifs, after-dinner coffee or simply go to relax with a book. The elegant and spacious lounge bar enables you to enjoy a light meal, or a pre-meal aperitif before dining in the delightful Tudor restaurant where a reputation for fine cuisine and service has been established.
The menu in our restaurant is varied with an emphasis on using freshly caught local fish and in season locally grown fruit and vegetables.
The hotel is within a stone’s throw of the Jurassic coastline and 18-hole golf course at West Bay. From West Bay, there are many delightful walks, over the East cliff, along the famous Chesil beach, where there are breathtaking views towards Abbotsbury (famous for the Swannery and gardens), or to the west towards Lyme Regis where you will find the Golden Cap (goal of many walkers), the highest point on the south coast. In 2001 Dorset and East Devon was chartered as the Jurassic Coast, England's first World Heritage site. This status was achieved due to the area's geological history. The abundance of fossils from the Jurassic and Triassic periods which can be found on the beaches shows this. Covering 95 miles of coastline, West Bay gives a great base to tour the various sites which are part of Dorset's famous World Heritage status.
