The Old Rectory, Howick, Alnwick, Northumberland
Tucked away along the Northumberland Heritage Coast, The Old Rectory offers guests an elegant and peaceful retreat within easy reach of the region’s finest natural and historic attractions. This Georgian country-house bed and breakfast is set in private grounds of meadows and woodland, just 400 yards from a secluded beach. With private parking and a warm welcome, it is an ideal base for exploring Craster, Howick Hall, Alnwick Gardens, Alnwick Castle and the edge of the Northumberland National Park.
Inside, the atmosphere is one of comfort and character. Each bedroom has its own individual charm, designed to suit a range of guests. Holly is a spacious double room with a king-size bed and day bed, accommodating two or three people. Overlooking the walled garden and Howick fields, it features an en-suite shower room. Jill, located in the East Wing, offers a king-size bed and a large shower room with views to the sea and the historic Bathing House, while the bedroom itself looks south over fields and woods.
Jack is a versatile room that can be arranged as either a king-size double or twin, and enjoys the morning light with views towards the coast. It includes a newly renovated en-suite with a walk-in shower. Rose is a double room facing south over the garden towards the woods, and comes with a private bathroom a short distance along the landing, featuring a spacious bath and separate shower — a room best suited for guests without mobility concerns. Suzie, with twin beds, can be combined with Rose as a Friends & Family suite or booked individually when Rose is unoccupied, at which point it has exclusive use of the same private bathroom.
For a different kind of stay, The Old Rectory also offers a glamping bell tent and a traditional shepherd’s hut nestled within the grounds. These provide a rustic and charming alternative, giving guests the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the serenity of this coastal haven.
With easy access to the Northumberland Coast Path, the nearby village of Craster, and a wealth of cultural and historical attractions, The Old Rectory is perfectly placed for those seeking both relaxation and discovery in a beautiful, unspoilt setting.
