The guest
rooms have large bay windows giving excellent views over the garden and
farmland and are furnished with antique furniture in keeping with the house.
The
gardens, about an acre in extent and largely created by the Harrisons, are a
riot of colour in the summer months and there is a large wildlife pond at the
bottom of the lawn. The kitchen garden grows most of the fruit and vegetables
used in the house.
There are
also local rare breed cows and sheep plus dogs and cats, livestock associated
with a traditional farm. In the past the farm was a famous stud farm which bred
the Derby winner of 1875, a horse called Galopin, the sire of St. Simon who is
often regarded as the father of many modern racehorses.
