www.thebandbdirectory.co.uk Cathedral House, Ely, Cambridgeshire

There is a choice of traditional bed and breakfast in the house, or self-catering holiday accommodation in the Coach House.

For guests there are two suites, each one has its own luxury bathroom with heated towel rail and cast iron bath with mixer taps. Each suite is decorated individually with period furnishings and has a T.V, radio, hair-dryer etc. Breakfast is cooked to order, and served around a farmhouse table with fellow guests.

Ely is a great starting point from which to visit Cambridge and its colleges (and go punting on the Cam!), Newmarket - the historic home of horse racing, Bury St. Edmunds, Kings Lynn and Norwich.

Only 66 minutes from London's Kings Cross Railway Station and grand St. Pancras station with its Eurostar service to Paris and beyond. It is also only 40 minutes from Stansted Airport.

According to recent archealogical research Cathedral House stands on the site of the Saxon market place. After the Cathedral was built (1080 -1200) the land was within the monastery precincts and part of the grounds surrounding The Chantry, and remained so until 1850, when the property was sold to Dr. Muriel.
