Highland Park House, St. Ola, Kirkwall, Orkney
Highland Park House is a 5-minute drive from the centre of Kirkwall in St. Ola. It is an imposing Victorian mansion that offers comfortable and homely accommodation for couples, friends and families who are looking to visit & explore Orkney. Less than 10 minutes by car from Kirkwall Airport, 10 minutes from the Kirkwall ferry terminal and 25 minutes from Stromness and St Margaret’s Hope, Highland Park House is ideally situated for exploring all that Orkney has to offer, including the World Heritage Site of Skara Brae and The Ness of Brodgar.
Over the years, Highland Park House fell into disrepair, until it was beautifully restored in 2013 by owners & artists Antony Hodgson and Áine King. The house was built for the owner of the nearby Highland Park Distillery which attracts visitors from all over the world. Being on the edge of Kirkwall, the house is an ideal base to explore the town and beyond. Buses run close by and all parts of the mainland are within very easy reach by car, including the ferry terminals, the airport and the UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Skara Brae and Brodgar.
Every detail was carefully considered, ensuring that the décor was in keeping with its original 1890s nouveau style. During its renovation, modern amenities & features were added to ensure guests had a comfortable place to stay. Today, guests have a choice of 6 luxurious rooms to choose from.
