Abbey Hotel, Conference & Leisure Centre, Conference & Leisure Centre, Roscommon, Co Roscommon

Abbey Hotel, Conference & Leisure Centre, Conference & Leisure Centre, Roscommon, Co Roscommon

The 4* Abbey Hotel located in the heart of the Irish Midlands town of Roscommon is considered by many as one of Ireland’s last few remaining authentic family-run hotels. Owned and managed by the Grealy Family dynasty now since 1963, this 18th-century property is steeped in history and heritage, boasting views of the ruins of a 12th Century Dominican Abbey at the rear of the property. In fact, not too many hotels can say they have a lineage dating back to the original High King of Connacht, whose tomb is encased in the old ruins at the rear of the hotel. As you drive up the winding avenue entrance to the hotel it is often referred to by many visiting American guests as a hidden gem, “ a quaint Irish Manor oozing all the trappings of an intimate castle”.

In 1963, Mr Thomas Grealy, an entrepreneurial local businessman and the original patriarch of the hotel purchased the 4-acre property located on private grounds and planted the seeds for the thriving business it is today. Today, his son Tommy, daughter in law Anya and grandsons Tom Jnr and Adrian continue the legacy taking the business into its 4th generation.

Steeped in nearly 300 years of history, the 4-star Abbey Hotel is the ultimate in luxury accommodation and the perfect location for a relaxing getaway. The hotel is set amongst majestic private grounds and tranquil gardens alongside views of its neighbouring 12th Century Abbey namesake. It's central geographical location, 20 minutes from Athlone and only a mere 90 minutes from Dublin and 60 minutes’ drive from Galway, make this a very accessible location for weddings, conferences, events, leisure guests and all special occasions.

The magnificent exterior of this castle-hotel is matched only by the beautiful elegance of its recently refurbished interior design, with a timeless mix of classic charm and modern style pervading throughout. The hotel also has an award-winning leisure centre with a 20 m heated indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms and a state-of-the-art gym. The hotel’s RAI award-winning restaurant provides an outstanding dining experience with impeccable service, exquisite cuisine and slick presentation worthy of any royal banquet, guaranteed! This year the hotel won 2 top regional awards for Best Hotel and Best Chef at the prestigious Irish Restaurant Awards.

The Multi-Award Winning RAI Restaurant at the 4* Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town offers a varied range of dishes prepared from only the freshest of locally sourced produce and served with great care and attention to detail, therefore making it the perfect setting for your special occasion. Carvery and Bar Food is served daily and the hotel boasts extensive wines of the world selection and tantalising cocktail menu.

If you are looking for the ultimate blend of luxury and escapism, it doesn’t come much closer to perfection than this! Check out the hotel website for special offers on www.abbeyhotel.ie, or call the hotel direct on 090 6626240.
