Birchleigh
Guest house is situated in the centre of Grange over Sands. Grange is from the
French “Graunge” which means granary. The monks of Cartmel Priory stored their
grain here until the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry Vlll in 1536. The
site can still be seen on the Main Street.
Grange
became popular with wealthy businessmen from the north of England in the late
19th Century.
The traffic free Promenade is the ideal place to take a leisurely stroll with a magnificent view across the bay to Arnside and Silverdale. You can enjoy a game of bowls, tennis or crazy golf. There you can also view the Prom Art exhibitions on the last Sunday in the month from April to September.
Every
Sunday afternoon in the summer there are brass band concerts in the bandstand
in the park.
