The George, Croscombe, Wells, Somerset

The George, Croscombe, Wells, Somerset

The George offers bed and breakfast accommodation located in the pretty village of Croscombe in Somerset. We are located at the foot of the Mendip Hills close to Shepton Mallet and Wells. Our inn is a superb base for exploring the West Country’s many fabulous attractions.

We have four rooms available for bed and breakfast. One room can be set up as a twin-bedded or a double, another is a single and the other two rooms are doubles. All rooms are en suite with showers, one with a bath and a shower.

The George has a great reputation for its food and our menu caters for almost everyone. We make nearly everything our self and use fresh, local ingredients wherever possible.

We normally keep six quality Real Ales on at any one time. Our “King George The Thirst” is brewed exclusively for us by Blindman’s Brewery in Leighton, just five miles outside of Shepton Mallet. We also keep five local ciders. Our two best selling ciders are from Thatchers just 15 miles away, but we have a very local cider “88” produced from 88 varieties of apples in an orchard just two miles away in Shepton Mallet.

Our guest accommodation is within easy reach of Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury Abbey, the Bath & West Showground, Cheddar Gorge, Longleat, Stourhead, Clarks Village, Wookey Hole Caves and Glastonbury Tor. There are great walks, cycle routes, climbing and caving opportunities at our doorstep, we’re dog friendly and muddy boots are welcome too.
