The Mansion, Whitehaven, Cumbria, Lake District National Park

The Mansion was built around 1770 and belonged to the Wordsworth family, being the home for a while to the famous William Wordsworth. It has since been extended to include a further 6 en suite rooms and an indoor heated pool, hot tub and sauna.

The house has splendid views over the historic coastal town of Whitehaven across The Solway Firth, Scotland and the Western fells of the Lake District complete the view to the East. Being on the coast it is only minutes away from the England Coast Path that will take you North all the way to Allonby and Silecroft to the South. Located only 10 minutes from St Bees beach which at low tide offers a fantastic sandy beach, local ice cream parlour, coffee shop and on clear days’ fantastic views of the Isle of Man.

The C2C cycle route starts just down the hill on Whitehaven Harbour, where you can find some great restaurants and bars with relaxing views across the marina. There is secure cycle storage and carry a small stock of essentials for that coast to coast trip.

There are mostly double rooms which can make up to twins or family rooms, there is also have a family room with a lounge/bedroom and separate bedroom off it for the kids, special rates for children under 10 and breakfast is included for everyone. Most dietary requirements are catered for.
